mmmmm....this is fantastic!! FRESH DAILY's free mixtape "Tomorrow is Today" is a sonic journey to the galaxies of future music loaded with a lyrical content invoking the spiritual universe of Sun-Ra and Outkast. I've been waiting for this since I heard Fresh Daily's teaser space joint Apollo 13. Now that I had a chance to listen to it several times, I must say this album is a groundbreaking, out-of-the-box-future-sound trip mixed flawlessly to flow smoothly into your mind and get stuck in there. Featuring remixes of & collaborations with heavyhitters Flying Lotus, Oddisse, Jesse Boykins III, Outasight and BrainFeeder, Tomorrow is Today lays a new ground for the future of hip-hop blending old skool realness with 80s pop, jazzy melodies, electro and a modern funk sound you hear more in L.A than in Brooklyn. My personal favorites at the moment are the dreamy The Lift Off (this recalls some of Cocteau Twins dark & sweet spacey guitar trips), Nightfree (this one is a future classic), the sexy electro-boogie joint Wait a Minute (fkiller on the dance-floor) and the Flying Lotus remix Winterfresh that makes you feel like you're listening to the organ in some galactic temple.
