The Space art collective grand opening and weekend progress

So!<br />Danny and I had a tun of fun on Friday.<br />We drove over to Vancouver Washington for the First Friday art shenanigans that included The Space art collectives grand opening night!<br />It was a total swoon. i am in love!<br />There was drumming, poetry reading, live community painting, local music, face painting and more!<br />Here is a peek into the drum circles:<br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4009/4592512875_77495131ef.jpg" /><br />( photos and compilation by the dear <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kermitlover/">Anni Becker</a> )<br />The beats were strong and full of wonderful intent!<br />It lasted for a good while before coming to a close so that we could enjoy more local musics.<br /><br />and then came the live community canvas painting:<br /><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1405/4592562163_921bf62471.jpg" /><br />( more wonderful photos by friend and photographer <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kermitlover/">Anni Becker</a>)<br />Here you can see Danny jumping into the community canvas at full throttle- painting Ganesha!<br /><br />This was the end result of the live community canvas free for all painting:<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3309/4592661309_510a49ebe0.jpg" /><br />( another photo by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kermitlover/">Anni</a>!)<br />a wondrous, spontaneous community creation.<br />As Danny helped paint the community piece i was busy giving and receiving face paintings!!<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/4593044127/" title="face painting in The Space by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="face painting in The Space" height="335" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1383/4593044127_bda0501113.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />( photo by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/lucidopticlab">Danny</a>)<br />And thus the face painting madness began. On Saturday Danny and I drove all around town hunting for treasure at estate and garage sales. Since we will be moving soon we are lookin for some new area rugs and furniture. We found a super groovy lavender shag carpet that was huge along with a few other awesomely wonderful area rugs, end table, book shelf and much more. We filled up our car's hatch back and decided to call it quits for the day.<br />Sunday we enjoyed the morning, danny made soyrizo breakfast tacos. We then took a nice long walk around the neighborhood( trying to make sure we do get some regular exercise)....the weather was perfect. The sun was up but not glaring and the breeze was choice and comfortable. By the end of the day however, the sky turned grey again so we headed in doors and got a lot of packing done( it finally does feel like we are moving!)<br />So that wraps up the weekend bizz. i didnt get much of any work in on any of my art projects- in fact most of my art supply is already packed and ready to be relocated. So we shall see when i get to finished my current work in progress, perhaps it will be sometime we move and the dust has a chance to settle.<br /><br />Hope all is well with everyone and that the weekend was sweet.<br />best wishes for this new week.<br /><br />Many blessings,<br />-Chelsea Rose

A new drawing and stuff on SALE

I'm pretty much finished now i just have to work on the hands...so hopefully i will have some time this weekend to get it done and photographed to share come Monday. We shall see...i might be busy garage sale hunting for rugs, sofas, dressers and patio chairs. Its perfect for spring and summer. ...this is truly a one of a kind dress, you wont find another like it! The purple dress was found in a super groovy thrift shop and it had just begged for a new creative makeover. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/lucidopticlab"><strong>Danny</strong></a> hand designed the mushroom and then hand screen printed it onto the dress and a few other shirts. The screen print has since been retired and this is one of the few articles of clothing with the print that has yet to sell! Plans are made to be broken- recounting Lost Thursday and the weekend

I have noticed in my short life thus far that plans made tend to be broken. For the art walk that i had been rambling about for some time, that was to occur last Thursday, was indeed canceled by the unpredictable rain of the pacific north west.<br />I had also made plans to do another body painting photo shoot on Saturday but Friday night received a text that undid those plans. I enjoyed turning the alarm clock off, sinking back into bed with the knowledge id get to sleep in on Saturday instead of rush off to a photo shoot.<br />That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the weekend. I didn't leave the couch much. I read books, with a warm sleeping cat on my lap and a mug of tea within reach for the better part of Saturday and Sunday. Its been getting more chilly with each week and I wonder when we will get the first snow fall. This weekend I managed to back up all my computer files which really sets my mind at ease. I have had two computers die on me and both times lost years worth of creation and photos. I have learned the hard way.<br />This weekend I didnt do any painting at all. Im frustrated with the paint I have. I normally use System 3, 3D paint( super thick and saturated) but I cant seem to find it in any of the local art stores. Thus I have been using some really crappy transparent winsor and newton student brand and its making it impossible to do any cover ups, which is currently needful.<br />So i drew instead:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/4141252596/" title="Endowment by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="Endowment" height="500" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2723/4141252596_976348601b.jpg" width="239"></a><br />Pen and Ink drawing.<br />I am sure this one will make my family a bit uncomfortable.<br />I was doodling on the couch while Danny and I watched a cartoon movie about Wonder Women's Amazon warrior princess origins. I think my mind was imagining some amazon warrior priestess, divinely endowed in an unusual way. My work was up for 2 months. Come Thursday Tiffany will have a new artist up there. I cant wait to go to the reception and see the new paintings all hung and meet the artist. Its going to be strange having my artwork back. I rather liked having some of my walls uncluttered by mass amounts of art...but it will be good to have them back. I ended up selling 6 smaller paintings during the time my art was up and I think im going to leave the rest of the smaller paintings with her so maybe she can sell them during the Holidays. It was an awesome opportunity and a wonderful/inspiring exercise and I feel blessed to have had it granted to me.
