So, my face is a lil burned from all the sun we had over the weekend. My good sense was over ruled by my body's thirst for the warmth of sun on my skin...but i will survive!<br />Had a nice two days down at the <a href="http://www.portlandsaturdaymarket.com/"><strong>Portland Saturday Market</strong></a> during which we debuted <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidopticlab/sets/72157624413296038/"><strong>Danny's Ebru Screen print work</strong></a> for sale. New drawing and the Portland Love Show 2011

Danny and I put it in as a collaboration under our company name <a href="http://www.lucidopticlab.etsy.com/"><strong>Lucid Optic Lab</strong></a>. I painted the model from head to toe with waterbased body paint. He did the amazingly seamless photo composite/retouching as well as directed the model in her arm posing as i took photos. The finished work of art is a true labor of love and artistic collaboration between the two of us. I feel we got one of the best placements in the show so we are just thrilled and inspired by it all.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidopticlab/5443041545/" title="Portland Love Show 2011 by Lucid Optic Lab, on Flickr"><img alt="Portland Love Show 2011" height="500" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5257/5443041545_354a3ed874.jpg" width="387" /></a><br />Here is Danny standing in front of his <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidopticlab/5424746893/"><strong>Ganesha Ebru mono print/silkscreen print piece</strong></a>. He had a great spot too, right above the artwork that was on this year's show flier. Art Hanging for my Goddess in All of Us body art photography show

Wow! I fear it has been awhile since my last post. I have been pretty busy working out the details of the Goddess in All of Us body art photography gallery opening.<br />It seems like everything is falling into place now and the actual art opening is really just about a week away! whoaaa.....<br /><br />On Tuesday we hung all the photos:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/5248346256/" title="Goddess In All Of Us - hanging by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="Goddess In All Of Us - hanging" height="239" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5005/5248346256_c972526481.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />This picture was snapped during the final moments of hanging. I will be hanging a bunch of my new acrylic paintings in the upper loft of the gallery. More Dyad WIP photos + pics from artwalk on NW 23rd

So i did some more work on my Dyad painting:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/5111789591/" title="dyad Work in progress painting by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="dyad Work in progress painting" height="505" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4153/5111789591_c2aea14f80.jpg" width="226" /></a><br />...as you can see i have put down the first layers of acrylic paint to my outline. I am still in need of more layers, refining and polishing. So far i have only really worked on one wing and must to the other and then figure out what those strange claw/flower appendages are doing :P<br /><br />On Thursday we went down to check out the first ever art walk on NW 23rd in the North Nobhill district of Portland Oregon. It was the first time any of his painting work had made its way out into the community and i was thrilled to be present to behold it! Weekend Tidbits:finishing my Trinity Pixie painting and a look at Dayzee love creations

This weekend was blissfully uneventful- sometimes you need those in order to find a balance.<br /><br />Our only obligation for the weekend was on Saturday: to open up and watch our friend Tiffany's Gallery, <a href="http://www.truthartspace.com/"><strong>T.Ruth Artspace</strong></a>, since she is till recovering from illness. We made the best of the day by setting up a couple tables along the gallery front on the sidewalk and sold some of our creations. I love sidewalk sales.<br />I also managed to put the final touches on a acrylic painting i have been working on:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/4803678096/" title="Fae- Work in Progress by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="Fae- Work in Progress" height="335" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4076/4803678096_93156c47fa.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />This is the Trinity Pixie- named after her strange balance of 3 eyes. I spent about 3 hours going over her in the gallery adding more highlight and shadow/correcting shape and so on ( in this photo she was still an hours worth or work away from being finished.) Today when i get home from work i hope to sign her and coat her in a protective gloss varnish then she will be all done. I will be displaying her along with some of my other paintings next month inside the Guerrilla Gallery, curated and run by Olin and the <a href="http://www.guerrilla-media.com/"><strong>Guerrilla Media artist collective</strong></a> based in Vancouver WA ( i love those folks!) 3 day weekend of art- body painting, art fairs and new acrylic on canvas!

Thank goodness for 3 day weekends! With this realization in mind i posted a craigslist ad asking for elderly women who might be interested in participating in my project. As always it was wondrous getting to know my model and it was uncanny how much we had in common in thoughts, feelings and intention. She seemed to have a real love for life and was well equipped to roll with life's punches through the years. We both agreed that everything happens for a reason and there is little point in regretting things. We also seemed to think that the body is a person's temple and that as women age the beauty matures and changes anew- our bodies becoming road maps showing the signs of a life lived well and to the fullest.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/4766248732/" title="Wise Woman by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="Wise Woman" height="500" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4076/4766248732_8bb392631e.jpg" width="335" /></a><br />Wise Woman<br />(body painting and photography by Chelsea Rose<br />Model: Suzanne Owens-Duval)<br /><br />I took over 500 photos of Suzanne in little over an hour and a half and i have been having a wonderful time in my spare moments this past weekend sifting through the shots and polishing the keepers. It was predicted to rain but that sure didn't stop us! Our lil fair still went strong with live music and a dozen or more vendors braving the storm. It did rain buckets for an half an hour but we survived and were rewarded with blue sky and sun for the rest of the day. We did pretty well on sales considering! And as always it was wonderful fun to meet and hang out with all the other local artists.<br /><br />On Saturday Danny and I watched T.Ruth Artspace gallery ( since our dear friend and the gallery owner is re cooperating from surgery.) Of course we had a blast greeting the people who walked in to enjoy the art. We all made dinner together( fresh herb salad with home made pesto sauce and tortellinis)...then we all hung out on the patio as the sun set. Then they baked the most delicious cookies and we sat around watching episode upon episode of Avatar the Last Air Bender as i dreaded one of the dear fellow's mohawk!<br /><br />All in all it was a wonderful few days!<br /><br />Now that the new week is here i am looking forward to finishing up the painting i started on Saturday and hopefully beginning a new one. Many Armed Goddess Body Painting and Ebru Marbling demo

We hosted an artist demo inside <a href="http://www.truthartspace.com/"><strong>T.Ruth Artspace gallery</strong></a>and it was a major success thanks to the amazing and wonderfully talented artist: Reza Antoszewska-she specializes in a fascinating Turkish paper marbling technique called Ebru- a monoprint technique using a thickened medium on which the artist places the paints by various methods, then works the colors in the medium with stylus, combs, and other methods to develop the designs. The print is then carefully transferred to the treated paper or fabric to capture the design.<br />Her Demo was amazing and everyone who was there got to make their own first Ebru artpeice:<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidopticlab/4755727184/" title="marbleing by Lucid Optic Lab, on Flickr"><img alt="marbleing" height="306" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/4755727184_5aa882f0c9.jpg" width="450" /></a><br />You can see the demo set up in the first photo while the second photo shows Danny holding up his successful Ebru piece while Reza proudly smiles in approval. Now that i have seen the process she is undertaking to create her art it truly is fascinating looking at the work and realizing how much control and skill she harnesses over this process. Reza's artwork will be up and on display till September so there is plenty of time to come visit the <a href="http://www.truthartspace.com/"><strong>gallery</strong></a> and see the work in person. So i will have a full report with photos on how that goes.<br /><br />Also- on July 4th i will be doing another body painting live inside t.ruth artspace gallery( and NO! i will not be painting her in stars and stripes*gag reflex.*) This will be my first "elderly" woman to enter into the project and i am super thrilled about it! Sidewalk Art Sale + Finished painting

This weekend was lovely with all of its sunshine and activity. It seems Portland had come alive, to be quickly followed by rain again. Oh well, at least we had a nice stretch of sunny weekend before the rain returns.<br />On Saturday Danny and I were to watch <a href="http://www.truthartspace.com/"><strong>T.Ruth art space gallery</strong></a> for the day. We had the idea to set up a lil sidewalk art sale to see if we could catch the interest of the passer byes. All most all of my herb and flower seeds have sprouted! I hope they grow up quickly so i can enjoy them before the summer is gone and the cold seeps back into place.)<br /><br />So i painted in the gallery from 1-6pm and was able to finish the painting i was working on<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/4694424387/" title="final touches by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="final touches" height="284" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4043/4694424387_2ecbc33ba8.jpg" width="450" /></a><br />On Sunday i managed to paint the sides of the canvas black, sign, date and varnish the painting. Today when i am home from work i will do my best to get a good, crisp photo of the finished painting in its whole to share.<br /><br />On Sunday i was also able to schedule another body painting photo shoot for this coming Sunday the 19th! It will be another white paint on dark skin painting/photo session. I hope it all works out and that the plans do not fall through!<br />Also excited to learn that Danny and I will be putting some artwork into a group show in Vancouver. The theme is Freedom. Artwork In Progress, new home art studio + news and things

I changed two things mainly- i did a rough/dark vignette around the painting and i changed the positing of the hands and arms a bit more. Things are still pretty rough so this weekend i hope to get in there and define the shapes better and get the color smoothly blended + make some final touches and be done!<br />I could have probably finished this painting this week but i had little time. Tiffany Ruth, my dear friend who is also the owner of <a href="http://www.truthartspace.com/"><strong>T.Ruth Art space gallery</strong></a> has been in the hospital so i have been rushing over to the space after work to hang out in the gallery, greet customers, take phone calls and water the plants. Tiffany is pulling through ok- she is such a strong woman!<br />I think it will be another few weeks till she is back in the gallery. I do really enjoy spending time in there. In fact i will be in the gallery all day Saturday doing another body painting/photo session. Its the first time i have been able to claim an entire room to dedicate to art and art supplies. Its wonderfull to be able to walk into the room, shut the door and work with privacy and without distraction. i have been trying hard to keep my cat Sushi from coming into the room- thus hopefully making the area a cat hair free zone( which will come in handy when im painting and varnishing!) Its also such a luxery to be able contain all my art mess in one room- be able to simply shut the door and its out of sight!<br />All and all...im digging the new set up. They were custom hand made by <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/RusticRainbow"><strong>Rustic Rainbow</strong></a>. She made them as clip on earrings for me since my ears never stay pierced. They are done up in my favorite color combo: Green and Purple! Art opening: Practical Magic group show

Had a really wonderful night hanging out at the art opening for the Practical Magic group show!<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucidrose/4483127607/" title="Practical Magic art opening by lucidRose, on Flickr"><img alt="Practical Magic art opening" height="231" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4051/4483127607_1f7dedc74c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />The energy of this show is amazingly psychedelic with strong influence of the Goddess with some pleasantly deep shamanic intent.<br />The gallery was full to the brim with some extremely inspiring artwork. Danny was saying he will probably be going back to better capture the entire show including Nemo Boko's art section which was truly a trip to behold! Once he whipped those out both danny, laura and myself walked around the entire show tripping out on how each piece had morphed under the 3d vision. Plans are made to be broken- recounting Lost Thursday and the weekend

I have noticed in my short life thus far that plans made tend to be broken. For the art walk that i had been rambling about for some time, that was to occur last Thursday, was indeed canceled by the unpredictable rain of the pacific north west.<br />I had also made plans to do another body painting photo shoot on Saturday but Friday night received a text that undid those plans. I enjoyed turning the alarm clock off, sinking back into bed with the knowledge id get to sleep in on Saturday instead of rush off to a photo shoot.<br />That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the weekend. I didn't leave the couch much. I read books, with a warm sleeping cat on my lap and a mug of tea within reach for the better part of Saturday and Sunday.
